James Richard Braughton, 75, of Winter Springs died Saturday, March 24, 2012 one day before his birthday, from complications of Leukemia.  Jim was born March 25, 1936 in Taylorville, IL.  After graduation from high school he joined the United States Army to serve his country.  Upon discharge he found a job sorting mail on the train.  This lead to his most prestigious job of Assistant Postmaster General of the United States.  After working in Washington for twenty years he moved to Tampa, Florida where Jim was the Florida Regional Manager for the US Postal Service retiring in 1985.  There he was involved in the Leukemia Society and later became the President of the Sun Coast Leukemia Society, unknowing to him at that time that he would develop and later die from complications of leukemia.  Jim was a charismatic man and made a friend wherever he went.  He will be remembered for his quick wit, photographic memory, sense of humor, and his punctual timing for everything he did.   Jim is survived by his two daughters, Carla and her husband, Brian Oliver and Janet Braughton; eight grandchildren and one adored great granddaughter, Cadence Teresa Braughton.  Private family services will be held.  Private family services will be held.
