Jim passed away peacefully at home last Saturday afternoon at the age of 85 after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by love as Gaye, his life partner, held his hand and his son Steve was by his side.

Jim believed life was meant to be experienced. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he rarely passed up an adventure. He loved good conversation, good food and drink, and the company of those closest to him. Together, Jim and Gaye explored the world, from Antarctica to Kenya and too many places in between to name. More than the destinations, it was the joy of experiencing them together, and the laughter they shared along the way, that meant the most.

To Bill and Steve, Jim was simply a great dad. He challenged them, encouraged them, supported them, and always brought a sense of fun to their lives.

An entrepreneur at heart, Jim created and ran several successful businesses throughout his life. He was proud of what he accomplished, but money or recognition were never what drove him. What he truly loved was the game of business. He loved the challenge, the competition, and the satisfaction of winning.

Whether it was sitting around the house over coffee or a glass of wine, cheering on the Brewers, playing a game, or telling stories, Jim had a way of turning ordinary moments into memorable ones. One of his greatest gifts was making people feel like they belonged. Whether you knew him as Jim, Pop, Big Jim, or G-Pop, you always felt welcome.

Jim leaves behind many whose lives are richer because they knew him. While the pain of his absence will soften with time, the memories, stories, laughter, and adventures he shared with all of us will live on in our hearts forever.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service. If you'd like to honor Jim, tell one of your favorite stories about him, raise a glass, spend time with the people you love, or simply take a moment to think about him.
