James H. Evans, Jr. was born in Orlando, FL to the late James H and Lurlie Mahaffey Evans. Jimmy attended the Mark's Street School, Memorial Junior High School in Orlando, Georgia Military Academy and Florida State University. He served our nation in the US Coast Guard during the Vietnam War and was a retired forensic psychologist having worked at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL. He held memberships in Sigma Chi, Florida Psychological Association. He attended Edgewater Alliance Church and enjoyed kayaking, reading, biking, gardening, hiking and travel. He is survived by his wife of over 42 years Sherry, brother Donald T Evans (Julie) and sister Ann Evans Mixson (Wayne). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jason Bleimeyer (Heidi), Onnie Sanford (Dwayne), Leeann Tedder (Mike), Lurlie Mixson, Wayne Mixson (Candice) along with five great nieces, two great nephews and grandniece Stella Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Evans, Sr., Lurlie Mahaffey Evans and sister Linda Evans. The family requests that any donations in honor of Jimmy be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Life Celebration will be 2:00 PM June 12 at the Mixon residence.
