James Charles Hill of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully at The Villages Hospital surrounded by his family on the afternoon of June 23, 2023, following a brief illness. He was 85.

Jim was born in Peru, Illinois, where he grew up in a family of seven and attended St. Bede Academy. After graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with an accounting degree, Jim moved to Chicago and worked as a Certified Public Accountant and auditor for various companies, including Brunswick, Nestlé and, lastly, Metra, Chicago's commuter rail system, before his retirement.

While working at Brunswick in Chicago's Loop, Jim met his wife of 52 years, Eileen. Together, Jim and Eileen raised a family in Northbrook, IL before retiring to The Villages. Jim was quiet but friendly and likable, really smart, and had a great sense of humor. He read mysteries, enjoyed films, and did crosswords, but most of all he loved playing golf and following Chicago and University of Illinois sports teams.

Jim was predeceased by parents Jervis and Margaret Hill, and brothers Thomas and Jervis. Jim is survived by his wife Eileen, daughter Margaret, son John, granddaughter Clare, and sisters Marilyn and Joann. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the memory of James C. Hill to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).

Jim will be remembered during a mass at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church at 8:30 am on Monday, July 10,2023.
