Obituary

James (Jim) Michael Casey, 83, passed peacefully at home Friday, February 27, 2026, listening to the tunes “Danny Boy” and “Amazing Grace,” while surrounded in comfort by his loving family.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Jim was the eldest son of the late James J. and Alice M. (Coté) Casey. He received an Associate’s Degree from Berkshire Community College and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967, continuing in the Reserves through 1969. He transitioned to the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and dedicated nearly 37 years of service, mostly in the Washington, DC area.

Jim was the devoted husband of Lorna Ann (MacLean) Casey for 49 years until her passing in 2016. In 2001, they relocated from Dale City, Virginia, to The Villages, Florida, where they embraced an active and vibrant retirement filled with golf, bocce, shuffleboard, golf cart parades, beach trips, and treasured time with family.

He was also a proud father, Pépère (grandfather), and Great-Pépère who delighted in hosting Pépère and Mémère camp for the grandkids, cruising with family and friends, and traveling to cheer on his grandchildren at their softball, baseball, and soccer sporting events. Spending time with his grandchildren brought Jim great joy. As they aged, he enjoyed card games, golf, movie nights, and late night “sweet treats” with them.

Jim leaves behind a beautiful legacy; three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Paula (Ed) Seeley of The Villages, Florida and their children Eric (Noralee) Seeley of Richmond, Virginia and Kirsten (Tyler) Seeley of Portland, Oregon; son Michael Casey of Gainesville, Virginia, and children Jordan (Carissa) Casey of El Paso, Texas, Taylor (Danny) Castillo of San Diego, California, and their daughters Olivia and Alina, and Shawn Casey of Cape May, New Jersey; and his daughter Colleen (Allen) Seeley of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and her daughters Alexa Meidt and Samantha Meidt of Stafford, Virginia.

He is also survived by his brothers, Paul (Kathleen) Casey of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Robert (Nancy) Casey of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and former colleagues.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, March 6, 2026, 5-8 PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, 1008 Bichara Blvd, The Villages.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 10 AM at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL, reception immediately following. Interment at Bushnell Veteran’s National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony’s Guild, the Franciscan Friars who serve over five million people annually providing essential resources of food, clothing, shelter, and medical assistance. St. Anthony's Guild_Donate_In Memory Of
