James (Jim) Everett Hart, 77, of Naples, passed away at Discovery Commons Cypress Point, Fort Myers (Hospice) on Friday, August 28, 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer. He had lived in Naples since 2004, having previously moved from Cranston, Rhode Island.

He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn A. (Wilkey). Born in Providence, a son of the late Richard W. and Hazel K. (Mowry) Hart.

Jim retired after 35 years with Narragansett Electric in RI and also served as a security officer at the Vineyards in Naples, FL for 13+ years.

Jim graduated from Laselle Academy and Johnson & Wales College, before serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a MP. Jim was an avid cyclist, reader, and loved his rides to the beach. He was the devoted father of Kimberly E. Brandt (Peter) of FL and James E. Hart II of SC (Sr. FAM w/ DHS ret.). He also was loving grandfather to Abigail E. Brandt, Blake E. Hart, Axel E. Hart, and Sayde A. Hart. He is also survived by his sibling Karen M. Waters and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, William J. Murray, Maureen E. Ginaitt, Patricia L. Hart, Richard W. Hart, and Robert E. Hart. He was a dear friend to so many, especially his former wife Sandra D. Hart.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Project Hero, a nonprofit that empowers veterans and first responders through cycling to support recovery, or Catholic Charities, a network of agencies to help those most vulnerable, would be greatly appreciated.
