James “Jim” Grzemski, 74, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, surrounded by prayer and loved ones, following complications from colon cancer. Jim lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, generosity, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him.

Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Chester and Ann Grzemski. He was raised on the southeast side of Chicago, where he enjoyed a modest upbringing and Catholic education.

As a young man, Jim worked at a local steel mill and spent summer weekends boating on Lake Michigan. At age 24, he married the love of his life, Sharon, and together they built a devoted family, welcoming three children. While working full-time and raising his family, Jim attended college at night and He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, which launched a successful 30-year career with Exelon Corporation.

In 2010, Jim and Sharon retired to SummerGlen in Ocala, Florida, where they enjoyed a wonderful life with newfound friends. He could often be found walking his beloved dog, Phoebe, golfing, bowling, or playing cards with his brother Chet and friends. A lifelong Chicago Bears fan, Jim also enjoyed listening to broadcasts of his grandsons’ baseball games. His Catholic faith remained central throughout his life, and he faithfully attended weekly Mass while supporting charitable causes.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Grzemski; his children, Kristen Peck (Michael), Sandra Grzemski, and Steven Grzemski; and his cherished grandchildren, M.J., Lucas, and Landon Peck. He is also survived by his brother, Chet Grzemski (Linda); his sister, Claudia Jamieson (Scott); sisters-in-law, Dolores Martin and Lorraine Borowry; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Jeff Jamieson, Jody Jamieson, Jayme Mankowski, Jillian Sarazin, Jennifer Grzemski, Leanne Martin, and Scott Martin.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by several family members, including Judy Grzemski, Phil Borowry, Lee Martin, and sister- in-law Diane, uncle Eddie, and aunt Jane. Also deceased, Jim had a fond relationship with his Aunt Dolores.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at SummerGlen. Service dates and times will be announced.
