James William
Kirksey
January 29, 1952 – April 26, 2026
James William Kirksey, 74, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
James was born in Bogota, Colombia, on January 29, 1952, to the late William W. and Eva Alicia (Garcia) Kirksey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki (Walker) Kirksey, whom he married on May 24, 1975; his son, Joshua (Tannah) Kirksey of Palm Coast; and his beloved grandchildren, Samantha, L.J., and Harry, to whom he was affectionately known as "Papa". He is also survived by his brothers, Eduardo (Sandra) Kirksey, Alex (Connie) Kirksey, and Albert (Meta) Kirksey; his sisters, Nancy Angulo and Alma (Frank) Quiles; his sister-in-law, Susan Taylor; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Denise) Walker; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, H. Robert and Winifred (Dexter) Walker, and his brother-in-law, Alberto Angulo.
James spent his entire career in construction and residential homebuilding and was a licensed general contractor. He took pride in his work, the homes he helped build, and the lasting friendships he formed throughout the construction industry over the years.
But more that anything, James was known for his personality. Whether you knew him as Jimmy, Jimbo, or "Jimmy Boy", you knew you were probably about to laugh. He had an off-the-wall sense of humor, and a way of keeping people on their toes with the things he would say. James could turn even the smallest everyday moments into something hilarious, and there was rarely a gathering where he didn't have everyone around him laughing.
James was an avid Miami Dolphins fan, a loyal Miami Hurricanes supporter, and a devoted NASCAR enthusiast. He played soccer as a child and later coached youth soccer as a young adult, sharing his love of the game with others. He also enjoyed traveling. One of his favorite adventures was a memorable road trip to Utah, a place whose beauty and scenery he especially loved.
Of all the roles he held in his life, being "Papa" brought him the greatest joy. He loved his family deeply and will be remembered for his humor, honesty, strong opinions, and the laughter he brought into every room.
Per James' wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Parkinson's of Flagler Palm Coast, c/o Renee Shoner, 49 Farraday Lane, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
