James “Jim”
Leonard Poole
June 6, 1938 – December 2, 2018
James (Jim) Leonard Poole, 80, of Ocala, Florida, departed this life and found his peace on December 2, 2018 while at his home. Jim was born on June 6, 1938 in Hyattsville, Maryland to Harvey and Ethel (Comley) Poole. He was raised and educated in Hyattsville, Maryland. On February 29, 1984 in Rockville, Maryland, Jim married his wife, Donna (Fried) Poole. Jim had a very patriotic soul. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on July 15, 1955 to proudly serve his country on the U.S.S Forrestal aircraft carrier until June 5, 1959, when he was honorably discharged. The love he had for his family is the only thing that rivaled the love he had for his country. Jim owned his own business and worked as a painter and wall coverer for over 50 years. He took great pride in his work and had the opportunity to mentor many young people and teach them his trade. A highlight of his career was working in the White House during the Kennedy administration. Jim was a passionate Harley-Davidson owner and enthusiast. He enjoyed spending his free time joy riding with his wife and participating in charity rides for various causes dear to his heart. Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna (Fried) Poole, his two daughters and son, Shana (Poole) and Jason Korach, Megan Poole, his two grandchildren Keli and Jonathan Korach, his sister Ruth Pfizer, his future son-in-law John Leniz II, and several other extended family and friends.
A celebration of life in Jim's honor will be held at 10:00 am on December 15, 2018 at Baldwin Brother's Funeral Home 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala Fl 34470. The family welcomes any friends or family who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Jim's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the National Rifle Association.
