James C. Scheiferstein, 88, of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024 , surrounded by his wife and sons in The Villages Hospital.

James was born on January 21, 1936 in Lorain, Ohio, a son of the late Marian and Clarence Scheiferstein.

After graduating from Lorain High School, James continued his education at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida where he earned a B. S. in Business Administration.  It was there he met and married his wife of 68 years, Jane.  He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Jim and Jane raised their family in Vermilion, Ohio. He and his late brother, George, owned and operated Scheiferstein Agency in Lorain, Ohio, which their father had established in 1927.  In later years, he and Jane sold their home in the Vermilion Lagoons and moved to Hudson, Ohio. They moved to The Villages, Florida permanently in 2018 after being part time residents for several years.

In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his two sons, Scott (Pamela) of Hudson, Ohio , Gregg (Lindsay) of Vermilion, Ohio and a daughter Catherine Garcia (Rick), of North Palm Beach, FL.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a sister, Jean Wells of Edgewater, Maryland.

A private memorial will be held at a later date for the family.
