Janet Elizabeth Cupo, 83, of Clearwater, FL passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. She was at home with her daughters by her side.

Janet was born June 25,1943 in Philadelphia, PA to Franklin and Elizabeth Hartley. She was a hard-working single mom throughout much of her life, as well as a devoted caregiver to her mother, Betty, until her death in 1988. In 1989, Janet bravely left Philadelphia for Florida, leaving behind everything she knew to embark on a new adventure. But that was her, she loved traveling to and exploring new places to have new experiences. She had an adventurous spirit, but never ventured too far from home in case her family or friends needed her. Janet always put her children and grandchildren ahead of herself, often sacrificing her own comfort for theirs.

After retiring in the early 2000’s, Janet spent most of her free time doing the things she loved. She had a passion for reading, dining out (especially breakfast!), spending time with the family munchkin cat, Phaedra, whom she nicknamed “Peanut”, going to festivals, and seeing shows and musicals. She loved shopping for and wearing bracelets and shiny baubles, which she called her “bling." She also felt very strongly about and donated to various organizations for the advancement of Native American rights. But perhaps her greatest passion in life (other than her family) was her love of Elvis Presley.

She was an avid fan and aficionado, as well as a collector of memorabilia. Janet saw Elvis several times during her life and later she thoroughly enjoyed going to tribute concerts and watching Elvis impersonators perform. She devoted herself fully to anything she truly loved.

Janet is survived by her children, Michael Cupo, Leslie (Rick) Kornfeld, David Cupo (Sandra Vetter), and Megan Pierce; her grandchildren, Matthew Kornfeld, Kristina (Mark) White, Justin Cupo, and Matthew Vetter; her great-grandchildren, Shane, Connor, and Zachary White; and her sister, Victoria Dellaporte.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on October 18, 2026 at the Clubhouse of Woodside Village Condominiums, in Clearwater, FL.
