Obituary

Janet Tingle Elliott, 82, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. Born on June 16, 1943, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Janet was raised in Edgewater, Florida. She spent her life caring for others with kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Janet was a lifelong nurse at heart, never stopping her role as a caregiver to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone fortunate enough to know her. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart touched countless lives over the years.

She was a longtime and devoted member of Port Orange Christian Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.

Janet is survived by her loving children, Patricia Ferris, Jennifer Lewis, and Keith Schmitt, Jr.; her brother, retired Colonel Earl L. Tingle, Jr.; her sister, Mildred Lipscomb; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

She will be remembered for her selfless nature, her comforting presence, and the love she shared so freely with everyone she met. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on through the many lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at Port Orange Christian Church, 904 Taylor Road, Port Orange, Florida, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Port Orange Christian Church or Halifax Health NIC unit.

Family and friends will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
