Janet Loretta Gloss, 86, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026.

Born on February 12, 1940, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late Edna (Wambgans) Little and Irwin Little. She attended Academy High School in Erie and went on to build a life centered around faith, family, and friendship.

Janet shared a loving marriage of 65 years with her husband, John K. Gloss, Jr. Together they created a family that remained the center of her life and greatest source of pride.

Known for her warm heart and outgoing personality, Janet was truly a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went and was loved by everyone who knew her. In recent years, she and her roommate, Diane, became the best of friends and were often seen happily wheeling around their facility together, attending one activity after another and bringing smiles to those around them.

Above all else, Janet cherished her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose kindness, compassion, and joyful spirit touched generations.

She is survived by her children, Pamela and Robert Robbins of Elizabethton, Tennessee, John and Robin Gloss of Forest, Virginia, Julie Brova of Jupiter, Florida, and Steve and Dana Gloss of Apopka, Florida; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Gloss Jr., her daughter, Beverly Gloss of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her sister, Shirley Kraus of Erie, Pennsylvania; and her brother, Irwin Little of McKean, Pennsylvania.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Janet's granddaughter, Danielle VanTassell, for the exceptional love, compassion, and care she provided during Janet's final months. Her devotion brought great comfort to Janet and meant more to the family than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics in Janet's memory.

Janet's legacy of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
