Janice (Buckley) Meade, 81, of The Villages, FL (formerly of Atkinson, NH and Bradford, MA), passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family

Born in Haverhill, MA in 1945 to the late Edwin and Lucy (Willett) Buckley, Janice attended Haverhill High School (1963) and The Chandler School for Women (Boston, MA 1964).

Following college, Janice spent a number of years in banking at Haverhill National Bank in Haverhill, MA and Arlington Trust Co in Lawrence, MA., before moving to Atkinson, NH with her husband, Paul, to raise their three children. During the children’s early school years, Janice was very active at the Atkinson Academy where she led both the Room Mothers program and the annual Clown Town fundraiser for several years.

Once the children reached high school age, Janice returned to the workforce, spending several years at Papa Gino’s before building, owning and operating a Subway franchise in Plaistow, NH.

For a dozen years, Janice and Paul split their time between Atkinson, NH and The Villages, FL before becoming full-time Villagers in 2022.

Never one to seek the spotlight, Janice led quietly and unassumingly by example, guided by strong personal convictions and a deep commitment to her core values. She was a devoted mother and wife who consistently put her family first. Janice leaves a rich legacy of love, family values and treasured memories.

In her spare time, Janice enjoyed golfing (especially after moving to Florida), reading, working out at the gym and catching up on her favorite soap operas. Additionally, she always enjoyed her many trips with Paul to Sandals/Beaches in Turks and Caicos (her home away from home) where she formed lasting friendships with many of the staff over the years.

Janice is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul, of The Villages, FL; her daughter, Laurie Meade, of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Steven Meade, of Las Vegas, NV and James Meade, and his wife, Daisy, of Feeding Hills, MA; step grandsons, Andrew and Luke Florek, of Feeding Hills, MA; grand dogs, Lola and Lucy; brother, Edwin Buckley, of Bradford, MA; brother-in-law, Brian Meade and his wife, Maggie, of Lowell, MA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loving friends.
