Janice
Soares
February 15, 1938 – January 19, 2021
Janice Ann Parker Soares Loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother and true friend passed away January 19, 2021 having suffered from Dementia, at home surrounded by family. Jan didn't let it get her down and remained herself, personality intact walking in love, dignity and grace, caring and loving to everyone. Greeting visitors with the biggest smiles (and complimenting them on their colorful shoes) and, as they left, hugs to all with waive and thumbs up out her picture window as they left.
Some capture beauty through a camera's lens or a paintbrush, others through their physical attributes or kind actions. Jan mastered all. She was a talented photographer, and had a smile that would light up the room. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and true friend.
Jan was born on February 15, 1938, in Battle Creek, Michigan, with a great sense of adventure that remained with her throughout her life. After graduating Kellogg High School, she went on to become a flight attendant and traveled the world. During her adventures, she met and married navigator Joseph Perry Soares Jr., and moved into the next phase of life, motherhood. They had two boys, Joseph and Jay, together before going their separate ways. Jan managed to achieve a Bachelor's Degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills before moving with the boys to Honolulu, Hawaii in the summer of 1975. Where she spent the next 40 years working, painting, and photographing the beauty she saw around her.
Jan's passing is deeply felt by her family and loved ones. She was an exceptionally kind person throughout her life and that was passed on to her wonderful grandchildren Brandon and Brittany now Nova from Joe and Kimberly Soares and Jacob and Alyssa from Jay and Kimberly Soares, yes you read that correctly, the boys both married Kims. We thank her for sharing her love, patience and kindness with all of us. We hope to carry that torch and share it with all that come into our lives. As Mom would say "Thanks for being here!"
