Janie Hallum, 78, of Scottsmoor, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Janie was the daughter of the late Jesse and Naomi Parmer. She lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and service to others. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Aurantia in Mims, she devoted herself to her family, her church, and her community.
Janie dedicated more than 30 years of her life serving as a nurse for Dr. Osmon in Titusville. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives with her kindness and genuine concern for others. Dr. Osmon fondly remembered Janie as a loving and compassionate nurse who always put her patients first and cared for them as if they were family.
Family was the center of Janie’s life. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She enjoyed watching girls’ softball, shopping, traveling, and canning. Janie especially loved the beach and spent many happy days exploring lighthouses along Florida’s east coast. Her adventurous spirit, warm smile, and servant’s heart brought joy to everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, J.D. Hallum; her sons, James Hallum and Jeremy Hallum; her granddaughter, Josie Aills; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jay, and Trenton. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice Sanders (Butch), Jessie McCoskey (Jim), and Jimmie Sue (Arnie); sisters-in-law, Marty Adkison, Jeanette Paynter, Betty Woods (Harold), Juanita Woodall, and Mary Price; bother in law Grover Hallum (Debbie), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Those who knew Janie will remember her vibrant smile and her willingness to help others. As her faithful friend, Lynette Lockamy, lovingly shared, “Janie had a servant’s heart, always willing to serve.”
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Though her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord. Her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
