Obituary

Jean E. Haut, 94, passed away peacefully under the care of Cornerstone Hospice at Mission Oaks Memory Care in Oxford, FL on July 7, 2017.  She was the oldest child of the late Percy and Carrie McGee, born in Roanoke, VA on April 8, 1923. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Theodore J. Haut, her two brothers William and Donald McGee, and her granddaughter Kimberly Kincade.

She is survived by her loving family: children Antoinette (Toni) Kincade and Theodore (Todd) J. Haut Jr. (Christine), grandchildren Kristin Begg (Brian) and Kurtis Kincade, great-granddaughter Emerson Begg, brothers Harold McGee (Pat) and Robert McGee (Carol), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA with a B.S. degree in Science. She worked for several years as a lab technician for Merck Chemical Company, where she met the love of her life, Ted.

They married on May 2, 1948, and relocated their family to the Loveland, OH area in 1954. During her years there she was a very active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She was a member of the choir, served as Rummage Sale Chairman, and was involved in Altar Guild and the Women of All Saints. She was also known for her clever costumes and skits at the church Saints and Sinners talent shows. Her strong faith was further displayed when she joined the OH/KY chapter of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross.

Jean was very civic minded throughout her life. When she was in high school, during WWII, she was the local air raid warden for her neighborhood, West Ocean View in Norfolk, VA. After moving to Loveland, she worked for many years at the local voting poles. She was a member of the Ohio Republican Women's group, where she was recognized for her 30 years of service and membership. She also participated in local Gardening and Women's clubs and was well known in her neighborhood for her children's creatively themed birthday parties.

Throughout her life, her courage and strength were demonstrated as she battled skin cancer and underwent numerous skin graft surgeries that began at the age of 26.

In 2009, she left her beloved home and moved to Sylvania, OH to be closer to her family. Then in 2015, she moved along with her daughter to Florida to enjoy the warm weather and activities the area has to offer.

A celebration of Life service and interment of ashes will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, IL at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 23, 2017.

Her family will cherish her memory and asks that those wishing to recognize Jean's life and ministry among us may make donations to the following organizations.
