Jean McNamee DeLongis, 95, of Yonkers, New York, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2026, in Daytona Beach, Florida, surrounded by family and loving caregivers.

Born on January 26, 1931, to John and Mary Penik, Jean centered her entire life on generously loving her family and the dear friends she gathered at every place along the way. Whether it was in the neighborhood, school, work, community volunteering, or faithfully serving at her beloved churches, Jean jumped into every action with enthusiasm, tireless energy, and sheer class.

In 1953, she married John McNamee, “Mac“ (who preceded her in death) of Yonkers, New York. They settled in Pearl River, New York, where they raised their four children. Over the years, Jean used her secretarial education and gifts working in various paper companies and often worked a second job waitressing on the weekends.

In 1980, Jean married Sam DeLongis (who preceded her in death) of Sparkill, New York, and moved to his hometown where she became an active member of St. John the Baptist Church of Piermont, New York. During that time Jean worked as Executive Secretary to the President of Volvo of North America until her retirement.

Retirement far from slowed Jean down as she spent the following 14 years as a reader for the Rockland County Tales for Tots Senior Volunteer Program, reading to young children in childcare programs every week. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and served in numerous ministries at St. John’s.

In 2017, Jean moved to Florida with her daughter, Kathleen, where she continued to meet wonderful friends and to serve at the Our Lady of Hope Thrift Store. Her happy place was sitting on the lanai enjoying the sunshine and ever-present breeze off the water.

Her other favorite pastimes were ceramics, painting, sewing and embroidery, reading mysteries, going to the beach and musical shows, and best of all… shopping!

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Penik Jr. and her grandson, Thomas Rutigliano.

Jean is survived by her children: Kathleen Raiti, Robert McNamee, Thomas McNamee, and Diane Rutigliano (Joe); her grandchildren: Allison Sutton (Scott), Brian Raiti (Mary Ellen), Ellie Coleman (Stephen), Stephen Rutigliano, Paul Rutigliano, and Luke Rutigliano; and her great-grandchildren: Jiana, Andrew "AJ", Kylie, Cayla, and Silas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 895 Piermont Ave., Piermont, New York on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 10:30AM, with private interment following at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Nanuet, New York.
