In Loving Memory of Jeanette Boehme McElroy Powell. October 3, 1940 – February 19, 2024 Jeanette Boehme McElroy Powell passed away peacefully at home surrounded with love by her family and pets on February 19, 2024. Jeanette was born October 3, 1940 in Wachula, Florida and moved to Daytona Beach with her family in the early 1940's. Jeanette grew up playing on the banks of the Halifax River and had a lifelong love of fishing and being at the river. Her entire life, Jeanette was a passionate equestrian. She owned, bred, rode and showed horses. She was an active member of Silver Sands Bridle Club since 1988 and held various offices including show committee chair. Jeanette was gifted a fabulous soprano voice and loved to sing. Friends and family fondly recall her singing the national anthem on horseback at many equestrian events. She also sang as a member of the church choir at First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach. Jeanette retired in 2004 from the accounting department of Daytona State College after 25 years of service. Jeanette was predeceased by her parents Fred and Cora Boehme and her brothers Bill and Fritz. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years Oliver, daughters Pamela Shewan and Melissa "Mo" Powell Wezniak, son Oliver "Randy" Powell, daughter-in-law Wendy Powell, grandchildren Alexander K. Wezniak, Mandy Olivia Powell and Drew Owen Powell, sister-in-law Mary Martin, Suzy her labradoodle and Sunshine her Palomino horse as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life for Jeanette will be held March 19, 2024 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange Florida 32127. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Halifax Health Hospice at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129
