Jeannette Mildred Fortin, lovingly known as "Jan," passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on September 30, 1939, Jan lived a life defined by strength, independence, and unwavering devotion to her family. She spent many years with Lockheed Martin before retiring, and she often spoke fondly of the work she loved and the pride she took in her career.

Jan was known as a strong, independent woman who faced life's challenges with determination and resilience. Her family and friends admired her steadfast spirit, generous heart, and ability to bring people together.

She enjoyed traveling and treasured time spent with family. Some of her fondest memories were made at family pool parties, where generations gathered to share laughter, stories, and special moments. These occasions reflected what mattered most to Jan—family, connection, and making memories with those she loved.

Jan was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization and valued the friendships and community involvement it provided throughout her life.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michel Fortin; her children, Dianna Bivins, Deidre Whigham, and Robert Payton, all of the local area; her sisters, Nancy Anderson and Debi Shaw; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Gertrude Hodges; her brother, Lawrence Hodges; her children, Debi, Bubba, and Denise; her granddaughter, Tiffany Tweedy; her great-granddaughter, Debra Tweedy; and her great-great-granddaughter, Braelynn Cox.

Jan's legacy lives on through the generations of family she helped shape and the countless lives she touched with her strength, love, and enduring spirit. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her commitment to her work, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Independent Medical Alliance, a cause that was meaningful to Jan.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.
