It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeff Melin on July 12, 2025. Jeff was 78 years young.

Jeff was born to Emil and Millie Melin in St. Paul, MN, and graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School, class of 1964. He grew up in Roseville, MN, and moved to Vadnais Heights, MN, where he raised his family with his wife, Betty.

As a Journeyman Printer he worked for Lilly Printing and Web Publishing. He transitioned down a different career path and became a Journeyman Carpenter and worked for several commercial builders. He finished his carpentry and facilities maintenance career at Luther Seminary in St. Paul and retired from there in 2009 after 20 years.

Jeff was a man of superior building and fix-it skills and exceptional athleticism. Throughout his life he enjoyed his family, downhill skiing, water skiing, softball, golfing, boating, fishing, his many motorcycle trips, his car club, and life in general. As a young man he was a professional ski instructor at Birch Park Ski Area in WI and took many trips out west for the best snow. He also adventured to Banff, British Columbia, to go helicopter skiing in the Bugaboo mountain range with his life-long friend, Mac.

Jeff was always quick with a smile and always eager to join in the fun. Most recently he enjoyed his newfound life and friends in The Villages, FL, where he and Betty spent their time golfing, riding around in their golf cart, enjoying their friends and all of the entertainment The Villages has to offer, going to the beaches, and exploring Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty; adored children Andrea (Bob) Opatrny, Steven (Hana) Melin, Jennifer Sullivan; his cherished grandchildren; his sister, Sandra Land (George); brothers-in-law, Skip (Barb) Miller, Richard (Janie) Miller; many loving nieces and nephews and his treasured life-long friends.

He is and always will be missed. His smile, contagious laugh and memory will remain in our hearts forever.
