Obituary

Jere Bursill Chambers (79), of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away surrounded by his wife and children on September 21, 2021. Jere was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1942, to Byron Stewart Chambers and Marion Frances Bursill.

Jere was a proud Air Force Veteran and after four years serving the country he loved, went into sales and eventually became a high level executive with a Fortune 500 company. Later, he and his wife Charlene Chambers owned franchises of Sales Consultants, Inc. (an executive recruiting firm) in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Daytona Beach, Florida which they ran successfully for 30+ years.

Jere was an extremely active man his entire life. When his now adult children were in high school, he was elected three times to the Eastern Regional High School Board of Education in Voorhees, New Jersey. He also served as the President of the Eastern High School Athletic Association.

Jere was a devoted man of God. While living in Voorhees, he was a charter member of Hope United Methodist Church and served on their Youth Services Commission teaching underprivileged, inner- city youth entrepreneurial skills.

Jere loved to travel and enjoyed visiting most of the countries in Europe and the Caribbean with his wife. He visited all 50 States and loved cruising as well. He was an avid Beatles fan and had an extensive collection of all things Beatles. He was also a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Jere and Charlene moved to Florida 20 years ago to care for Charlene's elderly parents. He then became active in his retirement community's Veterans Association in Bear Creek. Jere was a loving, kind, loyal, and truly giving human being… in every way. He could never say no to a person in need and never met a stranger, just people he hadn't said hello to yet. He will probably be most remembered by his family for his strength and wonderful sense of humor.

Jere is survived by his best friend and loving, devoted wife of 55 years, Charlene Lois Chambers, his children Nicole Chambers Bush of Ohio, Matthew Chambers of Kansas, and Matthew's wife Carolyn. Jere is also survived by his six beautiful grandchildren, Katelynd and Jonathan Chambers, James Bramah, and Morgan, McKenna and Cole Bush.

There will be an intimate family memorial service. Date to be announced.
