Jerry O. Coffey, Sr. 8-25-39 to 10-20-18

Jerry Oliver Coffey, Sr, 79, of New Smyrna Beach, Fl went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, October 20th surrounded by his family at Brookdale ALF. Jerry was born August 25th, 1939 in Ravia, OK. After graduating high school in 1957, he followed his sister to Washington D.C. where he worked as a page on the senate floor. He made the move to Atlanta, GA in 1959 where his intention was to attend Georgia Tech, however, he met the love of his life Madrene and everything changed. He was married on June 25th, 1960. He decided to pursue automobile sales at Burrell Motors in 1959. In 1973, he became a partner in Burrell–Coffey Motors, a buy here pay here car dealership that was rewarded with their repeat customer loyalty spanning five generations of families. The Northwest Business Association awarded Jerry for his long time service to the community with "Jerry Coffey Day" on December 12th. His legacy still exists as Coffey Automotive carried on by Jerry Coffey Jr. During his 52 year career, he was a member of NIADA & GIADA where he received numerous awards including: Quality Dealer of the Year, numerous times Eagle winner, and many others. He also served as President, Vice-President, District Representative and Board Member for the GIADA. Serving others was always a part of who Jerry was. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church from 1976 to 1991 and had the privilege of being an ordained deacon in 1985, head of the ushers and on the visitation committee. In 1992, Jerry and Madrene became members of First Baptist Church of Woodstock where he began the greeter's ministry. He is now a member of Space Coast Baptist Church. Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madrene, children Tina Coffey Sheridan, Julie Anne Sullivan (Paul), Jerry Coffey Jr. (Cinnamon) and 8 grandchildren. The celebration of his blessed life will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at Space Coast Baptist Church, 223 N Samsula Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
