Jim Alexander Emrick of Palatka, FL passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Jim was born in Washington Courthouse, Ohio on September 12, 1932. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married his childhood sweetheart Joyce Powless in 1955. Jim and Joyce moved to Florida in 1973 when Jim retired from Ohio Bell. Jim began a second career in property management. He also was active in the Florida Over 50 Softball League and was invited to join the Florida World League. He and Joyce regularly volunteered at eh Edgar Johnson Senior Center. Jim loved to build things and made the gator mailbox in front of the corky Bells Restaurant in East Palatka. Jim is survived by his wife of 57years, Joyce; his twin sons, Jim and Tim and his wife, Kaye; one daughter Kim and her husband Dave. He has two grandsons, Jade and Scott. His other love is Maggie the Poodle. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11AM at Edgar Johnson Senior Center, 1215 Westover Drive, Palatka. In lieu of flowers, please donate food to the Christian Service Center Putnam Food Bank.
