Obituary

Joan Wimmer Haugland Beaty, 84 passed away at home on July 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 5, 1938 in Seattle Washington to Tom Wimmer and Harriet Lemagie. She was married to her devoted husband Tom Beaty, an Orlando native, for 66 years. She was predeceased by her parents Tom Wimmer, a well known Seattle environmentalist, Harriet Haugland, step father Palmer Haugland, brother Tom Haugland Wimmer. Her brother Dr. John Haugland and sister Jan Haugland Caldwell continue to live in central Florida.

She is survived by her husband Tom and their children: Jill Beaty Vath (Tim), Beth Beaty Erickson (Len), Thomas J. Beaty (Michelle) and their grandchildren children, Jenna Vath, Brett Erickson, Cara Erickson and Thomas Vath.

Joan moved to Orlando when she was in the fifth grade and attended Grand Avenue, Howard and graduated from Edgewater High School. She was active in the children's schools, remodeled and managed the family's real estate. Joan was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando for over fifty years.

Joan was a devoted wife; a loving mother and grandmother. Her beauty, poise and gentle ways were present until her final days.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.

The Orlando Chapel of the Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society is honored to care for Mrs. Beaty and her family at this time.  Those wishing to share a memory or light a virtual candle in her memory are encouraged to do so on her memorial page.
