Joan Marie Horonzy Bucsku passed away in Ocala, Florida, at age 78 after a brief illness. Joan was a longtime resident of the Trenton NJ area and raised her four children in Ewing Township. She worked locally for Wells Fargo, RCA, Hewlett-Packard, and retired from the NJ Association of State Colleges and Universities.
In the 1970s and 80s, Joan was very active in the Trenton Suburban Women's Bowling Association, being inducted to the local Hall of Fame, participating in leagues at Curtis, Slocum's, Hamilton, and Colonial Lanes, and attending the annual conferences of the Womens Intenational Bowling Congress across the country.
Joan was an accomplished pianist, and accompanied a teacher friend's drama club presentations for several years. She was skilled in sewing and crochet, and her beautiful afghans are treasured alongside her specialty towels in the homes of many friends and relatives.
Joan enjoyed playing in Atlantic City, particularly at the Trump Plaza where she made valued friendships over the years. She loved sharing her entertainment perks and room comps with family members, who nicknamed the hotel, Grandmom's Beach House.
Joan moved to Ocala, Florida, three years ago. She was introduced by son Ed to an adult style tricycle, and found renewed happiness in being able to pedal around the neighborhood and local parks, chatting with neighbors and whomever she met along the way.
Joan's greatest joy was her family, children and grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Anne Horonzy, and sisters Betty Wyckoff and Sharon Bono. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her children: Edward Bucsku and Jonetta Philebaum of Tampa, Florida; Joni Truch and husband Mark of Ocala, Florida; Susan Bucsku of Silver Springs, Florida; and Thomas Bucsku and wife Jaime of Clinton, New Jersey; sisters Christine Caston and husband Rick, Claudia McGurk and husband Joseph, brother Thomas Horonzy and wife Myra; grandchildren Patricia Jones, husband Christopher and sons Connor and Chase; Summer Johnson, Steven Bucsku, Elizabeth Truch, Landon Browne, Julianne Bucsku and Violet Bucsku; and many beloved nieces and nephews, who share fond lifelong memories.
Funeral services were private, and her remains will be scattered at sea in accordance with her wishes.
Arrangements for Joan have been entrusted to the care of Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place Chapel, 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Suite 200, Ocala, Florida 34470. PH: 352-236-5884. Online Condolences as well as fond memories may be left for Joan's family by visiting www.BaldwinCremation.com
