Joan Maurer, age 79, passed away peacefully in The Villages, FL on March 1st, 2025 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 3, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Julius and Florence Rappaport.  She moved to New Jersey with her family in 1973 to raise her children Jill and Jason. She later moved to Florida in 2015. She worked in many fields during her career including hospitality and office administration.  She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed gatherings to celebrate birthdays and holidays; and getting together with friends and family for game nights.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her late husband Richard Whetzel. She is survived by her daughter Jill Boccanfuso and her husband George of Robbinsville, NJ and her son Jason Maurer and his wife Lisa of The Villages, FL.  She was a beloved grandmother to her triplet grandchildren John, Adam and Matthew Boccanfuso and to Andrew Prudhomme, Jr.  She is also survived by her sister Eileen Ostrove and her husband David of Woodbury, NY and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marlene and Barry Grossman of Allentown, NJ. She will lovingly be remembered by her nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services to be held in New Jersey, will be scheduled for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
