Joan Miller Musil passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on July 5, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Joan spent most of her life in the Chicago area before moving to The Villages, Florida, five years ago. There, she quickly embraced her new community and continued living the life of service, friendship, and faith that defined her.

Joan was known for her sweet spirit, warm smile, friendly nature, and outgoing personality. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Joan was first married to the love of her life, Bob Miller, on October 17, 1953. They shared 48 wonderful years of marriage until Bob's passing on September 8, 2001. Throughout her life, Joan was blessed with two lifelong friends; Betty & Bob Musil and Dick and Lois Hrejsa. The couples shared decades of friendship, and became like family. After the passing of Bob Miller & Betty Musil, Joan and Bob Musil found comfort in one another through their shared history, cherished memories, and enduring friendship. They were married on December 28, 2002, and shared 19 wonderful years together until Bob's passing on August 8, 2021. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to the lasting power of friendship, family, and love.

Throughout her career, Joan worked for JCPenney, two school districts, and a medical practice. She approached every position with dedication, compassion, and a strong work ethic.

Joan had a servant's heart and believed deeply in giving back to her community. She volunteered at the local hospital and was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She faithfully served her church by singing in the choir, playing the organ, and helping organize, serve, and clean up after countless church events, especially the cherished spaghetti dinners that brought so many people together.

After moving to Watercrest in The Villages, Joan quickly became an active and beloved member of the community. She enjoyed playing Rummikub, participating in cardio drumming classes, creating art, and making lasting friendships with her neighbors.

Above all, Joan's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose unconditional love, gentle guidance, and generous heart will be deeply missed.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Mark (Laura), Linda (Bob), & step children, Steve (deceased) (Val), Cathy (Mike), Scott (Roseanne), & Rob (deceased). Grandchildren, Becky, Sara (Tim), Jason (deceased), Michelle (deceased), Dayna (Carl), Dawn (Brian), Denise (Adam), Devyn (Darren), Diane (deceased), Sean (Ashlei), Scott (Jeannie), Kimberly (Jon), Jeff, Greg (Emily), & Brandon.

Joan was a proud great grandmother to; Kaelen, Mina, Quincy, Harper, Corbin, Emmery, Brodie, Hannah, Hailey, Blair, Claire, Bennett, Dylan, Brooklyn, Liam, Mackenzie, Parker, Natalie, Alayna, Ty, Bridgitte, & Declyn.

A memorial service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 2pm, at Water Crest Buena Vista in The Villages, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, or Cornerstone Hospice.
