Joan Morrison, 90, of North Port Florida, passed away after a lingering battle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her husband Jack and her two children, Michael Rydberg of Plymouth MA., and Andrea Braverman of Philadelphia PA. She had 5 grandchildren, Jason and Justin Rydberg and Benjaman, Joseph and Jamie Braverman. She also had 5 Great grandchildren Cameron, Caleb, Van, Wells and Zac Rydberg. She was the daughter of George and Fran LaBollita and had 5 siblings. She is survived by her brothers, George and Dennis LaBollita.

She was raised in South Boston where she attended Catholic school. Being the oldest daughter she had many responsibilities in helping to raise her younger siblings. She married Richard Rydberg, a Marine, in 1955 and moved around the country following her husband in his deployment. They finally settled in West Roxbury and Marshfield MA. They separated in the late 70’s.

She met the love of her life, Jack Morrison, while they were working together at the Jordan Marsh warehouse. She was proud to be a Local 25 Teamster and earn a pension. She and Jack eventually married and enjoyed many years together in sunny Florida. She was an avid bowler for most of her life and she and Jack enjoyed bowling twice a week right up until her 90th year!

Her biggest joy in life came from being a grandparent and being called “Nana.” She often told her son, Michael, “oh, you think that you love your children…Just wait until you have grandchildren!” She was a doting, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service is being planned at The First Congregational Church, 1981 Ocean Street Marshfield MA. Details TBA.
