Obituary

Joan D. Slauson, 80, passed away on October 28, 2020 at Buffalo Crossings-SNF in the Villages, FL.  Joanie was born in Milwaukee, WI to Dorothy M. and George H. Sprague on August 11, 1940.  She grew up as a sheltered policeman's daughter. After graduating from Juneau High School, she studied data entry at MATC.  After two years living in Hawaii, she returned to Milwaukee and married her high school sweetheart, Lorin G. Slauson II in 1963.  They were blessed and raised two children.  Joan was a stay at home Mom and Lorin's career took them from Wisconsin to Illinois, Ohio, and Minnesota.  They retired to The Villages, FL in 2001.  She enjoyed her many friends and playing golf in The Villages.  She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church and served as a communion assistant for several years at 11:30 AM service.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, daughter Lisa Pieper (Joseph), grandchildren Samantha, Andrea and Kevin Pieper.  She especially enjoyed her grandkids when they sang, "I love you, a bushel and a peck."  Also survived by her sister Jacqueline Mellor, niece Crystal and nephew Daniel.  She was preceded in death by her parents and son Lorin III.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no memorial service is planned at this time.  Graveside service will be conducted in Milwaukee, WI next summer.  Rest in Peace and God Bless You my love.
