JoAnn (Shaw) Thornton Newman, 94, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2018 under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. JoAnn was born in Chillicothe, OH and moved to The Villages in 2001.

JoAnn will be greatly missed by her daughter, Judy (Jim) Roth, of The Villages, FL; granddaughter, Krista (Jeff) Stallard and great-grandson, Jakob Stallard, of Charlotte, NC; sister, Bonna Dell (James) Stevens of Buffalo, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Thornton; husband, Everett J. Newman; mother, Hazel Hixon Shaw; sister, Roberta (Howard) Johnson; brother, Warren (Margaret) Shaw; and brother, Frank Shaw.

JoAnn enjoyed water-walking, playing Rummikub, Gin Rummy, and Triple Play, crafting, crocheting, and making 100's of cardholders for Triple Play members. She was also an accomplished pie baker and seamstress for her family members. JoAnn was a member of the Chillicothe Lioness Club for nearly 30 years.
