Joe Shinpaugh passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, hard work, and love for his family.

Born in Ducktown, Tennessee, Joe later made Titusville, Florida, his home, where he built a life centered on service, family, and community.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later continued his commitment to serving others as a volunteer with the Titusville Police Department and through the Coast Guard Auxiliary. His dedication to his community carried over into his professional life, where he worked as a painter for the Brevard County School Board for more than 20 years.

Joe loved being on the road. He was always up for a drive, no matter how many miles it took, especially if it meant bringing home a box of fresh tomatoes or a flat of strawberries. He also enjoyed spending time riding with the police department, combining his love of serving others with his curiosity and appreciation for those who protect the community. If he spotted a dog, cat, or even a turtle trying to cross the road, he wouldn't hesitate to stop and help it safely on its way. His compassion extended not only to people, but to every creature he encountered.

Joe is survived by his son, Jason Shinpaugh, and daughter-in-law, Linda; his beloved grandchildren, Jason Jr. and Sara; and many extended family members who will cherish his memory.

He is also survived by his wife, Dianne Shinpaugh; brother-in-law Jimmy Harrell and his wife, Jean; Dianne’s son Bret Kicklighter, his wife Heather, and their daughter, Savannah; Dianne’s son Troy Kicklighter, his wife Dana, and their daughters, Caitlin, Samantha, and Bailey; and Dianne’s son, Bart Kicklighte,r and his son, Conner.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Port St. John, 3900 Fay Blvd., Cocoa, FL 32927. A luncheon will immediately follow the service, and family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to remember and celebrate Joe's life.

Joe lived a life of quiet service, always willing to lend a hand, support his community, and care for those he loved. His kindness was evident in both the big moments and the small ones—from serving his country and community to stopping along the roadside to help an animal in need. His legacy will continue through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
