Obituary

…I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.

John 14:3

John H. Borer, age 91, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 in Orlando, Florida, having been married for 68 years to Lou Ann Borer (formerly Schroeder).  He lived a long and happy life surrounded by a large loving family.

As a true family man, he knew who he was, he never forgot where he came from, and he knew where he wanted to go.  Lou Ann referred to him as "My love – my husband", she would call him her "fix-it man", and he liked to hear it.  John (Jack) was a beloved father of 6, grandfather of 18, and great grandfather of 15 – with one more on the way, and still room for the family to grow.

Out of school, John enlisted and served with honor and pride in the US Navy and is a Korean War veteran.  Following his time in military service he was employed by the Lockheed Martin Co. for 35 years, and later retired to Sebastian, Florida.  He passed his final years in Orlando, FL.

He was born on October 26, 1931 to Frank and Loretta Borer in Ottawa, Ohio and is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gerald and Charles, and sisters Jane Winkeljohn and Barbara Topping.

John is survived by his six children: Daniel (spouse Lauri), Deborah (spouse Raymond – deceased), David (spouse Norma Roman), Julia (spouse Kurt – deceased), Timothy (spouse Kimberly), Thomas (spouse Marita), and by one sister, Kathleen Flanagan. Also survived by his eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A strong leader of his family, he will be fondly remembered for his story telling and his love of the outdoors, especially fishing, where many of his stories began as well embellished "fish tales".  He will be dearly missed by his entire family.
