John E. Bowman, 92, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in Cape Coral. He was born February 19, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. John moved to Florida in 1992 from Palos Heights, Illinois. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.

John was a former Alderman in Palos Heights, IL in the 1980's, District 7 FMO manager from Naples to Sarasota, FL. Due to his job as a millwright-carpenter, he could make anything from wood. He was an avid golfer, and very good at it. John was in golf leagues in Punta Gorda for many years, since his retirement 30 years ago.

John and his late wife, Harriett, loved to travel to Europe and went on over 10 cruises of the world.

Surviving are: a son, John E. Bowman Jr.; a daughter, Juliann Mellott and husband, Les of S.E. FL; stepchildren, Charles R. Schaflein and wife, Christine of St. Louis, MO, Craig D. Shaflein of Bloomingdale, IL, Candace A. Mattingly and husband, William of Cape Coral, Chris M. Schaflein of Boca Raton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
