April 22, 1947 – June 3, 2023
On the morning of June 3rd, 2023, surrounded by family and jazz melodies, in hospice at home in Sarasota, Florida, John Roland Carrier, age 76, left this life in peace to return to his Lord in heaven. The son of Roland Emile Carrier and Jeannette Carrier (Boisvert), Johnny was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, and resided in NH until his retirement from GE Aviation, after which the sun seeker moved to Florida in 2010 without looking back. John was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and suffered for many years with agent orange and related illness as a consequence from his service. Johnny had an unshakable passion for his Savior, Jesus, and was a vigorous creator; his writing, poetry, and fluorescent-medium art often serving as expressions of faith. John was a musician, an artist, and inventor; he was an avid football fan, and loved cooking and spending the afternoon bustling away in the kitchen. He made creative use of every scrap and solved for many a project need with is go to cardboard, tape, and tacks; his mind was always working. John also loved his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Sylvia Carrier (Lesmerises) of Sarasota, Florida, as well as daughter Tanya Orr and husband Michael of Manchester, NH, and son Matthew Carrier and partner Rochelle of Cape Coral, FL; his sisters Lorraine Carrier and Nancy Carrier of Manchester, NH, Janice Carrier of Goffstown, NH, and Elaine Carrier of Concord, NH, as well as his brother Robert Carrier of Durham, NH. He also had 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Jesse Carrier of Manchester, NH. A celebration of life will be held in Manchester, New Hampshire on June 24th, and a burial ceremony with honors will be held on August 8th at 1:00PM at the Veterans Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
