John Paul Chaffee, born July 1, 1937 Saginaw, Michigan to parents Newton W. and Alice (nee James) Chaffee passed away peacefully on October 4, 2016.  John retired as head paymaster for Saginaw Steering Division, General Motors in 1992.  John attended Saginaw High School and Central Michigan University.  In his retirement, John and his wife Carol enjoyed summers in their home on Wixom Lake in Beaverton, Michigan and winters in their home in Flagler Beach, Florida.  John was well known for his love of his family, buying and selling boats and cars as well as his infectious laugh.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Carol, children Michelle and Melissa, grandchildren Adam, Heather, Jacob and Michael.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Jane (Jos) Overstreet and Bonnie Small; his son Michael (Debra) and his brother James (Kay).  His sister Jewell (Richard) Brode followed him to heaven on October 9, 2016.

He is also survived by step children Sharon and Stephen, step grandchildren Erik and Emily and step great grandchild Paisley.  He also will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place with a future interment at the Jerome Township Cemetery, Sanford, Michigan.
