John McLaughlin Costello, 73, of Fort Myers, Fl, passed away on November 7,2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. John is the loving husband of Janeen (Boudreau) Costello, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

John was born on April 8, 1951, in Cumberland, RI, to the late Walter and Helen (Mclaughlin) Costello. The sixth of 10 Costello children, John graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in MA, 1970. ln 1974 he was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and began his 45-year career as a dedicated teacher, coach and mentor.

John was a man of faith, strength and compassion. He was a talented athlete who loved sports and shared that love with his children and grandchildren. Most of all John loved life, family and hard work. Known to everyone as 'Coach,' he instilled a positive influence in his students' lives and community.

ln addition to his wife, John is survived by his three children, Walter Michael Costello of Mills River, NC, John Mclaughlin Costello, of Fort Myers, FL, and Ann Elizabeth (Costello) Skinner and her husband Jaren, of Mills River, NC. John is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Guy Walter Costello, lsobel Grace Costello, and Fiona Elizabeth Skinner; his siblings, Mary Pasciucco and her husband, John, of Milton, MA, Elizabeth Burke and her husband, Walter, of Mashpee, MA, Barbara Earp and her husband, Ralph, of Portsmouth, RI, Nancy Shields and her husband, William, of Celebration, Fl, Martha McGahan and her husband, Michael, of North Attleboro, MA, Joseph Costello and his wife, Marcia, of Falmouth, MA, Debora Combes and her husband, Steve, of Cumberland, RI, and his brothers-in-law Steve Allietta of Forestdale, MA, Louis Boudreau and his wife, Sarah-Jayne, of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Peter Boudreau and his wife, Martha, of Annapolis, MD, Brian Boudreau and his wife, Emma, of Choluteca, Honduras, and sister-in-law Michelle Karolys and her husband, Gonzalo, of Victoria, British Columbia.

John was predeceased by his brother Michael Walter Costello, his sisterin-law, Mary Ann Costello, and his beloved sister, Patricia 'Trisha' Costello Allietta.

He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held in Cumberland, RI at a future date.
