Obituary

John Michael Crandall, "Mike", 74, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 6, 2024, after a year of battling a rare condition called Calciphylaxis. Mike was born January 19, 1950, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Betty and Johnson Crandall. He grew up in Joplin, Missouri where he was a stand-out athlete in football and wrestling at Memorial High School. He fell in love and married his high school sweetheart, Margaret, and he went on to serve in the Military, stationed in Germany with the Army. He was a proud fan of his alma mater, the Arkansas Razorbacks, where he earned his Registered Nurse degree. He practiced as head nurse in the operating room as well as director of nurses for a nursing home. Later he joined his brother in the dental field and became a Certified Dental Technician. After several years in St. Louis, he continued his dental career in Port Orange, Florida where he owned and operated his dental lab for over 20 years. He had a talent for cooking, modifying his cars, and creating things like gold-dipped insects in his lab. He loved to golf, fish, and had a passion for technology. He had a way of making people laugh with his witty personality. His three daughters carry on his attributes of strength, kindness, and good nature. Mike is survived by Margaret, his beautiful wife of 54 years; daughters, Mesha Molitor (Rodney) of Port Orange, Megan Crandall Solomon (Michael) of Orlando, and Marissa Crandall Cruz (Thomas) of Winter Park; brother, Grant Ellis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Everett, Scarlett, Juliette, Luka, and Leo. He joins his mom, dad, and brother, Jim, in heaven. Service will be held on February 19, at Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange, FL 32127 at 10:30 am. Friends and family may arrive at 10 am for family and photo memories. His final resting place will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Margaret Crandall in honor of Mike.
