John Gary Cunnningham, 82, passed away on July 7, 2025, at home in Lady Lake, Florida. Born in Scranton, PA, he was a native of the Newfoundland/Greentown PA area and loved the Pocono Mountains where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a home builder for 30 years in Wayne, Pike, and Monroe Counties. He and his wife Fran moved to Florida in 2017 where he enjoyed the warmer climate there.

​ He was preceded in death by his parents John P. Cunningham and Ruth Anna Cunningham ( née Simons) of Newfoundland,  PA.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Cino Cunningham of Clarks Summit, PA ,and a sister, Romayne Olsommer of Newfoundland, PA.  He also leaves behind Charles Cino of Glendale, AZ a brother-in-law, and nieces and nephews:  Charles ("Charlie") Cino, Matthew Olsommer, Ora Olsommer, a grand nephew Alex Olsommer, Jennifer Steele, Michael Manning of Los Angels CA, and James Manning of Dalton, PA.

Graduating from Greene-Dreher-Sterling High School in Newfoundland in 1960, he entered Lackawanna Jr. College earning an associate degree.  Attending Penn State Dunmore campus, he qualified for realtor status. He was an ardent Penn State football and basketball fan attending many of their games and supported the alumni.  On June 3, 1964, he joined the Army Reserve, serving over five years and rising to the rank of Sergeant.
