IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Dahin
January 31, 1944 – March 3, 2025
John B Dahin Jr. passed away on Monday March 3, 2025 at 81 years old.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Batiste "Scotty" Dahin, his mother, Gladys Estelle Dahin, his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Dahin, and dearest family friend, Barbara Cattel.
John is survived by his son, John Scott Dahin, and his wife, Carie, and their children, Hunter Scott and Harper Elaine Dahin, who reside in Eustis, Florida.
John was born on January 31, 1944, in Ventura, California, to parents John Batiste "Scotty" Dahin and Gladys Estelle (Souder) Dahin. He attended Stratford Academy in Macon, Georgia, graduating in 1962. He attended college at Mercer University with an undergraduate degree in Economics and then attended Georgia State University attaining a Master's Degree in Accounting. He loved his county and valiantly served in the Navy for over 7 years, including a deployment to fight in the Vietnam War as a river boat captain. In 1976 he moved to Bradenton, FL and accepted a position as a business banker at Barnett Bank. After his time in Bradenton, he moved to Fort Myers to begin his construction career and met the love of his life. Five years later he married Elizabeth "Libby" Ann (Rhodes) Dahin, and the couple had one child together, Scott Dahin in 1986. John was a devoted family man, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather.
John enjoyed summers at his residence in Colchester, Vermont, spending time with friends and fishing on his pontoon boat. During the winter months at his residence in Altamonte Springs, Florida, he cherished spending time with family and friends, celebrating the holidays, and making his traditional trip to SeaWorld for each birthday. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind and caring person. John found purpose and fulfillment working on construction and development projects at Bright Side Storage with his son and three other business partners for the past five years.
He loved his family beyond belief and had an infectious personality radiating love everywhere he went, anyone who met him would know this. He was kind and gentle, but he was principled and determined when he needed to be. He loved his country, watching basketball and football and adored his grandkids! He enjoyed his long career in real estate and construction making a great living and changing lives of those who worked with him. Like they say, they just don't make real men like him anymore. John was one of those people who would not want us to be sad but rejoice over the fact that he's in heaven with his wife, his mother, father and close friends who have gone before him.
A celebration of life is scheduled for John on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 36432 N Thrill Hill Rd., Eustis, FL 32736. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a 501(c)(3) organization, in John's memory.
