John P Duffey III (The Mayor), 67, was born on May 7th 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Plantation, Florida .On April 26, 2026 after a long battle with Leukemia, John went home to be with the Lord. He did not want to give in and kept hoping for another day at home. I kept pushing him to stay and once Johnathan and I told him it was ok to go to Heaven and to his dad he went. He was so loved by all of us! My Rock!

He was married to the love of his life, Cynthia S. Duffey, for 21 years. He was so proud of the women his daughters had become. He graduated from Bryan College, and worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Glaxosmithkline and was their top salesman numerous times. He went to Hawaii and was a top salesman with Glaxo. He also worked as a realtor. John was a God-loving man and an awesome father and grandfather and husband!

John loved working on electronics, radio and CB. He loved doing live broadcasts with Scott Heintz and Scotty C. He also loved his little convertible sports car (Sky), going to car shows, and of course his family! He was also an avid swimmer.

We will always remember his loving spirit. He loved his friends and family, and would do anything for anybody. He loved scaring people at fright nights. He loved music and his puppies, Brandi and Luna!

John is survived by his forever loving wife, Cynthia A. Duffey; his daughters, Jillene Duffey (Evan) of Illinois, Stacie Duffey of Portland, Oregon, Lily Maquaire; his son, Johnathan Duffey of Eustis, FL; his step-children, Jennifer Maldonado (Johnny); his grandchildren, Angel, Alex, Cheyenne, Cynthia, Andrew Bair (Rachael), Jeremy and Maddison; his loving mother, Aileen May Duffey of Birmingham, Alabama; his loving sister, Aileen Giddens (Dave) of Birmingham, Alabama, his loving niece, Melissa Giddens Seibert (Andrew), his nephews, Steven Giddens (Laura) and Matthew Giddens; his great-nieces, Ruth Anne and Ginny and numerous friends and family!

John was preceded in death by his loving dad, John Duffey, Jr, his granddaughter, Cheyenne Collazo and Minny, his favorite dog!
