It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John E. Filipkowski, Jr., 76, of Fort Myers, Florida, who departed this life on July 19, 2026. Born on December 16, 1949, in Queens, New York, he was the beloved son of the late John Edward Filipkowski, Sr. and Jean G. Filipkowski.

John dedicated over thirty years of hard work as a stevedore at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Following his retirement, he moved to Fort Myers to enjoy his next season of life. John was widely known for his love of baseball, playing the piano, and studying history. Family and friends will forever cherish his intellect, his impeccable memory, and his wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Whitlow Filipkowski; his daughter, Natalie Jackson, and son-in-law, Jason Jackson; and his six grandchildren, Nalani, Jessica, Joshua, Noah, Jonah, and Naomi who brought him immense joy. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Norma Rosso, along with countless family members and friends whom he deeply impacted throughout his journey here on earth.
