John M Gill, Jr (Butch) 80 of The Villages Fl, formerly of the Eagleville and Schwenksville PA passed away on March 4, 2026 after nine courageous years of battling lung cancer, COPD and most recently AML Leukemia.
Born on February 14, 1946 he was known to close friends and family as Butch. John was the son of the late John M Gill Sr and late Betty (Moyer) Gill. He was married to the love of his life, Sharon Groover Gill. They would have celebrated 52 years marriage on March 30. It was his idea to renew their vows during a cruise on their 50th anniversary. John was in the first graduating class of Methacton High School in 1964 and attended Rittenhouse Jr High prior to Methacton being built. John retired from Superior Tube, Collegeville, PA after 37 years with 35 of those as a supervisor in the purchasing stockroom and shipping departments.
John participated in many sporting leagues over the years; football, ice hockey, bowling, softball, and shooting pool. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing poker with the guys and playing cards with their Florida friends and neighbors. He would sit for hours reading or doing difficult crossword puzzles in ink while watching old movies, westerns and sports.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Groover Gill, his two sisters, Pat (Bob) Cofer Havertown, Carol Crawford, Frederick, and brother Bob, Tennessee. Many nieces, nephews and great-nieces & great-nephews. Predeceased by brother-in-law, Kennth Crawford Jr.
A memorial service will be held at the Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 E Arcadia Dr., Limerick, PA on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00AM, Service 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Providence Baptist Church, 3430 Ridge Pike, Eagleville, PA 19403.
