With deep love, we announce the passing of John Grivas, a devoted husband, father, and friend, who passed away on August 14, 2026. John was born on March 25, 1937 in Chicago, IL to parents Peter and Antigone Grivas.

John was raised by his mother and extended family in Greece before returning to Chicago as a child. His professional legacy was centered around entrepreneurship in the restaurant industry and was known primarily for the ownership of John’s Garage.

John met the love of his life, Patricia, and were married in September of 1994. The two were inseparable for the remainder of John’s life, considering each other as both a lover and best friend. Nothing made John happier than becoming a father to their daughter, Emily, who meant the world to him. Along with his family, John was passionate about experiencing all life has to offer, and could always be found traveling and sharing new adventures with his friends and family.

John will always be remembered for his kind heart, curiosity, and steadfast disposition. We couldn’t have asked for a better man, and will miss John every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

John was preceded in death by his father, Peter, his mother, Antigone, and aunt, Chrissy. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and daughter, Emily.

Visitation will be held on September 19, 2026 at Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights, IL at 10am followed by a funeral service. Memorial services will be held on September 20, 2026 at St. Demetrios Orthodox Church in Chicago, IL at 12pm.
