John
Grogan
Jan 26, 1952 — Oct 1, 2026
John Grogan passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 74.
John was a complicated and charismatic man who lived life on his own terms until the very end. He had opinions, and he wasn’t shy about sharing them.
He grew up in Edina, Minnesota, with a spirit of adventure that stayed with him throughout his life. Whether flying planes or jumping out of them, skiing down a mountain or taking a risk, John had a way of finding the fun and luck in life. He loved golf, football, and a good story, especially one he could tell himself.
An entrepreneur with a sharp financial mind, John started his own insurance business in Phoenix and spent much of his adult life in Arizona. He lived in Florida during his final years. His Christian faith, love for his country, and strong convictions were part of who he was.
He was many things to many people. A brother. An uncle. A dad. A papa. A friend. A storyteller. A professional button-pusher. Above all, he was one of a kind.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Grogan and Kathleen Gill Grogan Bush, and his brother, Jimmy Grogan. He is survived by his siblings, Maureen Grogan Warner, Sheila Grogan, and Mike Grogan; his daughter, Katie Cowling, and her husband, Dale Cowling; and his two grandsons, Lenny and Owen.
John and his daughter Katie ended every visit and every call with the sign for “I love you,” 🤟, a gesture she will forever associate with her dad. She will always cherish the adventures they shared.
In accordance with his wishes, John will be cremated, and his daughter will scatter his ashes at a later date.
May he rest peacefully 🤟
