John (Jack) Hines died on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the age of 95 after a long and wonderful life. He was born May 19, 1923 to Lieutenant John P. and Lillian (Meade) Hines. He was the eldest of six, Lucille, Thomas, Kathleen, Dorothy and Joseph, who all predeceased him. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School and Northeastern University. He served as a Navy Corpsman assigned to the 1st Marine Division during WWlI in the Pacific Theater, After returning from the war he joined the Lynn Police Dept. and retired as a lieutenant detective after more than 30 years of service. He was married to the late Maureen (Nolan) Hines and is predeceased by his son Rev. John Hines and two of his daughters, Sheila Hines and Patricia Hines Stafford.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Hines Castello and her husband Lawrence, with whom he resided. He also leaves behind the joy of his life, his grandsons Steven Stafford and wife Rachel Collins of Washington. D.C. and Christopher Stafford and wife Hillary of -'Wilmington. He also leaves his son-in-law, Steven Stafford of North Reading and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
