John Joseph Henson, 77, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Wednesday,July 1, 2026 in Port Charlotte surrounded by his family. John was born on December 11, 1948,in Upper Darby, Pa to the late James Henson and Viola Henson Freeman.

In addition to his parents, John is proceeded in death by his brothers, James Henson and Keith Henson and sister in laws Carolyn Henson and Patrica Garone Rotkin.

John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Loretta Garone Henson, his sister Bonnie Henson Venezia her husband Paul Venezia,sister in law Emily Henson,brother in laws and sister in law, Lester and Denise Garone , Alan Rotkin ,nieces and nephews, Heidi, Nathan, Christina, Elizabeth, Michael, Anthony James (AJ) Jonathan, Kari, John, Danielle , Robert, their spouses and great nephews and great nieces and several other family and friends.

He was a General Motors Parts Manager for several years. He also worked and then retired from Holiday Park in North Port. John was an avid softball player,and a die hard New York Yankee fan, but his exceptional sense of humor and quick wit captured the hearts of so many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Animal Welfare League (AWL)in Port Charlotte, Fl.
