A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 6:00 pm in Key West, FL, for John Carroll Kuntz, age 80, who passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024.  To commemorate a well-lived life, John's ashes will be spread at sea during sunset in Key West, FL.  Pat Ruckstuhl will officiate the services for Burial at Sea.

Survivors include his beloved wife of  38 years, Gayle White; his children, Christopher Latimer and his wife, Molly, Jessica Roach her husband, Jerry; four grandchildren, Henry, Soren, Dashel, and Evan; two siblings, Gene Kuntz and his wife, Susan, and Monique K. Marcantel and her husband, Bernard; and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Irwin Kuntz and Lucille DeRosier Kuntz; one sister, Suzanne K. Tipton, and one brother, Bryant Charles Kuntz.

Raised in Kinder, LA, John graduated from Kinder High School in 1961.

He attended McNeese State University, majoring in Broadcasting. John was an announcer at McNeese State football games and worked as a radio Disc Jockey at KLCL, Lake Charles, LA. Drafted into the Army in 1964, John was assigned to Fort Richardson, Alaska, as a Chaplin's Assistant. This was the Vietnam era. John always said he fought the Cold War.

John's employment included management at Trinity Portland Cement and Exectuone Telecommunications, located in Dallas, TX, where he met his wife, Gayle White. They married in 1985. Moving to Florida in 1987, John honed his Real Estate Appraisal and Investment skills. John and Gayle opened Legacy Brokers, Inc., a real estate sales, management, and appraisal company, in 1990.

Although he traveled often, the highlight of John's life was discovering Key West while meeting up with his friend Perry Dickenson. This began three decades of traveling to the island as many as five times a year, encouraging friends to head there as well. Key West has become a tradition and beloved second home.

John had a radio voice, a great laugh, and a love of nature and photography.  He had a generous and caring heart, supporting Wounded Warriors and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charities.  He was an instigator of fun.  His presence was as warm and inviting as the sun of Florida, where he lived most of his days.  Johnny had a voice that could command any room and a wit that brought joy, happiness, and a sense of belonging to all who knew him.  His infectious humor and genuine kindness made him a cherished friend and beloved family member.  John's legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
