Obituary

John Lauser, Vietnam Veteran and current resident of Port Charlotte, FL died unexpectedly on March 21, 2026 at the age of 77.

John is survived by his wife, Susan Lauser, 3 children, Sno Smith (Andy) of Stella, NC, John Lauser (Amanda) of Largo, FL, and Christopher Lauser (Victoria) of Claremore, OK, 6 grandchildren, Cody Smith, Katana Smith, Grace Lauser, Nate Lauser, Collin Lauser, and Scarlett Lauser. He will join his parents Don and Marie Lauser, and his sisters Mary Jane Mcintosh, and Diane Smith in the afterlife.

John was born in Vancouver, Washington on January 14, 1949, and later moved with his family to Visalia, California. After graduating High School, he volunteered to join the Air Force, where he became a flying radio repair technician. He flew 37 combat missions over the contested skies of Vietnam ensuring our forces had superior Signals Intelligence. While the details of his missions may still be classified, he and his Security Service brothers will always know the impact they had. Upon returning from Vietnam, he used his skills to become an electronic field technician where he worked until retirement. He always enjoyed fixing things, whether it be electronics at work or cars and tractors around the farm, and he has always been proud of his service in Vietnam.

John was also a devoted father, grandfather, and husband, ever present and supportive with a steady hand to guide his family through turbulent times and good times. He loved unconditionally and always set the example for his children and grandchildren. He was never short of words, you could always count on him for a good story, it was as if he lived 3 full lives. He leaves some large shoes to fill and a gaping hole in the hearts of the many who loved.
