John Chaplin
Lewis
October 14, 1967 – June 10, 2026
John Chaplin Lewis, 58, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in hospice care in Fort Myers, Florida following complications from chronic liver disease and kidney failure.
John spent much of his life building lasting friendships and serving his community through his work.
He was well known throughout the Homestead area during his years at Carl Pelts & Sons Goodyear, where his strong work ethic, friendly personality, and willingness to help others earned him the respect of coworkers and customers alike. He most recently worked as a manager for NAPA Auto Parts in Key Largo before relocating to Fort Myers.
John’s greatest gift was his ability to connect with people. He valued the friendships he made over the years and considered many of those friends to be family. Whether sharing stories, offering a helping hand, or simply spending time with those he cared about, John left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
John is survived by his devoted domestic partner, Carol Dibiase of Fort Myers, Florida, his brothers, Don Lewis Jr. of North Port, Florida, and Bill Lewis of Marietta, Georgia as well as an aunt, several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John will be remembered for his kind heart, his loyalty to those he loved, and the many friendships that enriched his life. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
